Our Mission
To equip young adults with the tools, experience, and support needed to impact urban youth for Christ.
Points of Light was founded in 2011 and is Oakland’s largest children and youth ministry. We reach approximately 500 at-risk youth and children weekly through seven faith-based programs, teaching them about Jesus, instilling leadership, self-confidence, and Christian values, and providing hope through the
love of Jesus.
7 Faith-Based Programs
- Friday Service – Engaging over 90 youth weekly through worship, games, and Gospel teaching.
- Saturday Morning Program – Hosting 50+ children with games, crafts, and Christ-centered teaching.
- Home Visitations – Weekly visits to over 50 youth, offering mentorship and family support.
- Fellowship Groups – Midweek Bible studies and discipleship for young believers.
- SLICE Campus Program – Reaching 500+ students weekly in local schools with values-based mentorship.
- Community Outreaches – Large seasonal events providing support, food, and the Gospel.
- Leadership Development – Equipping young adults to mentor, disciple, and lead urban ministry.
3-Month Enrollment
Hands-on training in urban ministry.
- Spring – April 1, 2025 to June 28, 2025
- Summer – June 3, 2025 to August 30, 2025
- Winter – September 16, 2025 to November 22, 2025

- Stipend: $1,500/month
- Focus: Ministry, evangelism, and leadership.

1-Year Enrollment
Advanced Training and Mentorship
- April 1, 2025 to March 28, 2026
- June 3, 2025 to August 29, 2026
- September 16, 2025 to September 26, 2026
Key Details:
- Duration: 1 year
- Stipend: $1,500/month + $500 bonus after month 3
- Stipend increase to be determined after 6-month performance evaluation
- Rent $500
- Focus: Deepen skills and gain additional responsibility
What You Will Do
- Lead weekly inner-city Bible studies to disciple and strengthen local communities.
- Participate in 50+ home visits within four months, fostering personal connections and outreach.
- Receive training on how to raise financial support for missionary work.
- Choose between children or youth ministry after the first month to specialize in your calling.
- Learn how to build relevant biblical curriculum for inner-city kids and youth.
- Plan and participate in large-scale community outreach events with thousands in attendance.
- Speak in front of hundreds of youth each week at public schools, sharing the Gospel boldly.
- Receive mentorship from staff with over 30 years of combined inner-city ministry experience.
- Be part of a community of like-minded believers passionate about leading kids and youth to Jesus.
- Learn to strategically build relationships and programs to disciple inner-city kids and youth for Jesus.

Housing Details
Where You Will Live:
- Fully furnished 2-bedroom apartments at Points of Light’s complex.
- Rent: $500/month.
Accommodations include:
- Twin-size beds
